Here is a current project for a modeler back east. This South Branch Valley car is an Athearn product. So far this model has been done with acrylic paints and flat base by Tamiya to fade the car followed by a very light dusting of Vallejo dirt acrylic. The roof has rust texture plus three colors of pigments as well as the underside, plus the truck side frames have a bit of rust texture and rust powder as well. Adding rust to the sides has commenced. More photos when finished!
The Weathering Depot
I have been weathering mainly HO Scale model trains since 2009 for fellow modelers and friends.I specialize in freight cars, especially rust buckets. I also will weather locomotives. I do anything from light to heavy weathering using a variety of different mediums.I take care with models, therefore a model may take me a week plus. Please check out my work here on my page. My price varies as to how much weathering is requested. I can also change out couplers and wheels…..

Another Rapido boxcar….
Here’s another Rapido ex-Berlin Mills boxcar started for my layout. This one has so far a built up grime on the underside as shown plus the roof is done using multiple weathering mediums including my usual rust texture, as well as the ends are finished using acrylic paint, rust texture, and different pigments. Photos below of the progress. This car will remain on the layout while the first car is now listed on my new eBay store under the name “the weathering depot.” The car remains to be patched with some extra decals applied. Stay tuned for the finished model!

Why the low stats?….
Why are the stats/views here much lower than on my companion website for my layout? Well, I moved from my quite expensive website at another provider back to this one at Blogger. On the other website I had when I quit posting on that one about 8,000 + views. Hopefully those watching the old website will move to this one!
More commission work progress….
Here’s just a few of the latest commission work that’s in progress at the moment, six assorted cars from one modeler and ten more hoppers from another modeler. For the ten hoppers I’m just awaiting more graffiti decals to eventually complete these:

Finished….!
Here is the first Rapido Berlin Mills boxcar I’ve finished for the layout. This model is really a very nice detailed model, a job well done imo from Rapido. These cars were purchased from Otter Valley in Ontario.
The car was faded a bit with white acrylic. Other acrylics were used as well, especially on the underside of the car, along with rust texture on the car sides and rust pigment. The roof was done with two different types of rust texture with pigments over top. The trucks even have a rust texture on them as well covered with track rust by MiG Ammo. Photos below of the finished car:

Next car up…..
Next car up in this batch of commission work is this Walther’s CSX autorack. This car was finished using acrylics, a brown wash, rust texture, and powders to achieve a look similar to the prototype SP car shown. I think this one turned out pretty well!
