This car is now finished. This started out as an Athearn silver tank car lettered for Allied Chemical. It was repainted with grimy black acrylic then weathered with rust texture and rust powder. New decals were then applied, along with new wheels:
The Weathering Depot
I have been weathering mainly HO Scale model trains since 2009 for fellow modelers and friends.I specialize in freight cars, especially rust buckets. I also will weather locomotives. I do anything from light to heavy weathering using a variety of different mediums.I take care with models, therefore a model may take me a week plus. Please check out my work here on my page. My price varies as to how much weathering is requested. I can also change out couplers and wheels…..

Quick project.....
Next up is this quick decal project. This was originally an Athearn car lettered for Allied Chemical. Obviously it's been repainted into a faded black/grey color with a bit of rust. It's been sprayed with a gloss finish in places where new lettering decals will go. Photos coming of the completed car...
What's old is new again....!
I found stored away in an old train box a car I had forgotten about, this Accurail 50' ft ex-PRR boxcar patched for PC and weathered. It now rejoins the fleet and was spotted today on the team track:
Finished....
This guy is now finished. Car was faded per request, with mainly just a dirt build up on the car. Four weathering mediums were used on this car!

New project....
Next up is this new project for a modeler in West Virginia, this Exact rail Louis Dreyfus covered hopper. Out of the box as a bright blue, it currently has been faded with a mixture of pale blue and white acrylic paint followed by three washes of white. Added to that as shown is a little bit of dirt so far. More work to be done but it's coming along! More photos when finished....

Current project.....
Here is a current project for a modeler back east. This South Branch Valley car is an Athearn product. So far this model has been done with acrylic paints and flat base by Tamiya to fade the car followed by a very light dusting of Vallejo dirt acrylic. The roof has rust texture plus three colors of pigments as well as the underside, plus the truck side frames have a bit of rust texture and rust powder as well. Adding rust to the sides has commenced. More photos when finished!

Here's the other Rapido car I purchased recently that I'm now finished weathering. This car also was done with various mediums, acrylic paints, pigments, rust textures, and a wash. It'll join the fleet after the final seal is set up:

Another Rapido boxcar….
Here’s another Rapido ex-Berlin Mills boxcar started for my layout. This one has so far a built up grime on the underside as shown plus the roof is done using multiple weathering mediums including my usual rust texture, as well as the ends are finished using acrylic paint, rust texture, and different pigments. Photos below of the progress. This car will remain on the layout while the first car is now listed on my new eBay store under the name “the weathering depot.” The car remains to be patched with some extra decals applied. Stay tuned for the finished model!
